The LAPD is investigating a YouTube star who appears to have accidentally uploaded video of herself abusing her dog, Sphinx.

Brooke Houts is under investigation after she posted the video, which has now been removed from her site. In the video, Houts reportedly says she was going to use cling wrap to put a prank on Sphinx, but then later she's allegedly seen shoving and slapping the dog, even spitting on it.

Believe it or not, there was discussion on Twitter about what is and isn't abuse. For the record, hitting a dog qualifies as abuse.

Houts wrote a long response to people's claims she was abusing her dog.

She describes herself as normally being the "bubbly, happy go lucky Brooke" everyone sees in her videos.

"I want to clarify that I am NOT a dog abuser or animal abuser in any way, shape or form," she says in the message.

Though the video has been removed, you can still see one of the disturbing scenes here.

In the video, Houts says she's going to put plastic wrap on the door to see what her dog might do. Then the video cuts to her slapping the dog, after he jumped up on her, in what looks like outtakes.

At one point she tries to get out the line "we love you," and then shoves Sphinx away, when it looks like he was just going to give her a kiss. Then Houts can be heard saying "lay down!" several times.
