Britney Spears‘ former manager — who was blamed for her infamous late 2000s meltdown — is defending himself after the singer accused him of using fake emails to spread misinformation.
Sam Lutfi posted a lengthy message after the singer posted a video on Tuesday night updating her fans on her condition.
“Britney’s Instagram post has accused me of fabricating e-mails of hers that have been circulating recently,” he wrote. “I can unequivocally state that I never wrote nor had access to her e-mail.”
Lutfi continued, “Her team’s desperate attempt to deflect negative attention onto me (yet again) is a rather ineffective way to overshadow the FreeBritney movement.”

He concluded by saying, “In addition to making certain people in her camp look bad, the e-mails in question show a woman capable of running her own life, a narrative they want to hide.”
According to our sources, the alleged emails — which purport to show Britney trashing her father — definitely did not come from Spears because she has never had an email account in her entire life.
Guess that means “E-mail My Heart” was a lie.
