Britney Spears' Team Claims Father Jamie Cut Off Payments To Her Lawyers!

By Mike Walters

The war over Britney Spears' conservatorship is about to get nasty, after allegations her father and the management company working with him, cut off funding to her legal team.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Britney's lawyers are now claiming that after 12-years of working on her conservatorship, payments for their fees have been cut off "without any explanation."

It is an important moment in this case, after Britney's legal team has supported her decision to seek a co-conservator of HER choice, and is asking her father no longer be the sole conservator of her estate.

As you can imagine, it appears the timing of the stoppage of pavements is now being questioned as suspect.

In the documents, Britney's attorney claims he has been paid over the past 12 years on "hundreds" of occasions and never has Jamie or Lou Taylor's company not paid the invoices.

"This system worked perfectly for over 12 years and literally hundreds of payments until last month when the payments suddenly stopped without explanation," the lawyer states.

He continues, "The last payment I received was on August 20, 2020, for legal services rendered to BRITNEY for the week ending August 14, 2020." It should be noted, Britney's lawyer's legal fees are cleared through the conservatorship judge, and are ordered to be paid in full.

Britney's team is asking for the court to "Take appropriate action to obtain immediate compliance by James with its standing order for payment of my fees."

Britney Spears' Legal Team Publicly Challenges Money Being Paid

In the filing, Britney's team claims they recieved a request by Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group to email a copy of the "court order supporting my fees" from a staff accountant at the company.

It's interesting timing, considering Britney's lawyer has now publically challenged the amount of money many of these advisors are paying themselves in her conservatorship. Plus, Britney is requesting a major change in the players.

We broke the story, Britney's legal team specifically called out Lou Taylor's company for an increase in fees which seemed to be approved by her father and the conservators.

Britney's father responded to the allegations, saying, "the recent modification of the fee arrangement with TriStar Sports and Entertainment Group (“TriStar”) will not, as the (filing) states, result in TriStar receiving compensation in an amount higher than it has received in the past."

Britney Spears Asks For Conservatorship Details To Be Public Record!

As we reported, Britney Spears is asking that court to make most of her conservatorship details public, supporting a recent outcry from the #FreeBritney movement challenging her conservators.

"Far from being a conspiracy theory or a "joke" as James reportedly told the media, in large part this scrutiny is a reasonable and even predictable result of James' aggressive use of the sealing procedure over the years to minimize the amount of meaningful information made available to the public," stated the court filing.

It continued, "Whatever merits his strategy might have had years ago when Britney was trying to restart her career, at this point in her life when she is trying to regain some measure of personal autonomy, Britney welcomes and appreciates the informed support of her many fans."

Most of the players in the conservatorship case were present for a hearing today in L.A County Court, but the case was continued.
