Britney Spears' Father Files to Relinquish Power in Conservatorship

By Gary Trock

Britney Spears' father wants to step down from his role in her conservatorship, but his reasons for doing so seem suspect.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Jamie Spears filed "temporarily relinquish the powers of conservatorship."

As for why he wants to step down, Jamie stated, "due to personal health reasons."

The reason seems interesting, especially considering the timing of Jamie being under investigation for child abuse for alleging going on a tirade against Britney and Kevin Federline's 13-year-old son.

As The Blast first reported, those close to the conservatorship felt it was going to be difficult for Jamie to conduct daily business with Britney if there is clearly a turbulent relationship with her sons.

Jamie does not want to leave the conservatorship high and dry once he leaves, and is asking the court to appoint a temporary conservator to oversee the operation.

He is asking that a woman named Jodi Montgomery be put in place as a "temporary conservator" from September 9 until January 20, 2020.

Montgomery has been a "care manager" for Britney over the past year, which is described as someone who is, "both health care providers and facility supervisors."

Jamie also wants to make sure Montgomery has the same stronghold on Britney's life as he has for the past 10 years; including the ability to retain caretakers and security guards for Britney and the power to communicate with medical personnel and have access to all records, treatment and tests.

She'll also be able to limit and restrict any visitors to Britney ... which could include boyfriend, Sam Asghari.

Jamie has been dealing with health issues for some time, as he has undergone multiple surgeries for a ruptured colon.

However, he wants the ruling on the new conservator to happen ASAP, and has requested that a hearing go down next Monday.

The documents also state that Britney does not want to attend the hearing, but does not object to Montgomery being put in place to take over.

As we reported, Britney's conservatorship is currently under investigation by the court, which includes Jamie's actions concerning his daughter's professional and personal life.

The Blast broke the story, Kevin Federline filed a police report claiming Jamie broke down a door to "violently" shake his son.

The case is currently under investigation.
