Britney Spears has made it clear through her legal team she is totally fine with being under a conservatorship.
In new documents obtained by The Blast, Britney’s court-appointed attorney told the court he spoke with his client and the star has no issue with the current legal situation she is in, and has no objections to the conservatorship.
During the court hearing this week to decide who would become her new conservator, Britney’s lawyer informed the court she did not attend, “because she does not object to the proposed temporary conservator or prefer another temporary conservator”.
As we reported, Britney’s father, Jaime Spears, stepped down as her conservator after he was accused of abusing one of her children. He officially cited “medical reasons” for the departure. The hearing itself was to confirm if Jodi Montgomery, Britney’s care manager, was allowed to take on the duties.
The attorney also made the court aware, “his client also does not object to the temporary conservatorship of the person.”
Translation: Britney is fine with being under the control of a conservatorship.
The notion is interesting because of the recent outcry of the “Free Britney” movement online, to get the pop star clear of any conservatorship.
Britney’s mother Lynn, who joined her at a previous court hearing, even seemingly defending the message by liking a social media post that was circulated by people in the movement.
Along with Britney being cool with the control, her new conservator has filed to extend its reach to 12 other states other than California.
The case is due back in court for an update in January of 2020.
