Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the artists formerly known as Brangelina, separated three years ago, allegedly stemming from an altercation between Pitt and their eldest son Maddox Jolie Pitt. The couple had been together for a decade — married for two — and shared six children together (three biological, three adopted).
The divorce proceedings have dragged on for nearly three years, and they still have not reached a settlement. The latest sticking point is what to do with their French castle and vineyard.
The relationship between Pitt and Maddox has been strained since the split. Allegedly, a fight involving Maddox and a drunk Pitt was a catalyst for the split, although the FBI has cleared Pitt of any wrongdoing.
According to reports, Maddox “doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son” anymore, while remaining quite close with his mother.
Maddox has started university in South Korea and has been estranged from his father since 2016. In a new report from US Weekly, a source explains that he “hasn’t been receptive. And for Brad, it’s a tremendous loss.”
Pitt is also hoping for a reconciliation with their second oldest son, Pax.
“With Maddox overseas, Brad is also hopeful that Pax will also be interested in reconnecting without the influence of his older brother.”
