Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are inching closer to a final resolution on the custody arrangement between the two as evaluations on their children have officially begun.

Dr. Stan Katz submitted documents on October 8, obtained by The Blast, as the child custody evaluator who was appointed by the court. We're told the document is filed when an evaluation officially begins, to notify the court that the physician is qualified and meets all the necessary requirements.

As we reported, the couple has already reached a temporary custody agreement while the evaluator finishes completing his report. After that, the court will review the evaluation and put together a permanent custody order based on Dr. Katz's findings.

During the evaluation, people interviewed may include the family caregivers, along with the six children. Making the evaluation process easier, Brad and Angelina made sure all the kids are in Los Angeles together after their summer of traveling.

Dr. Katz is no stranger to Hollywood drama. He was one of the expert witnesses who testified during the 2005 Michael Jackson molestation trial, and has appeared as a guest on many shows, including "The Today Show," "Larry King," "Oprah," "20/20," and even "Bad Girls Club."

The split between Brad and Angie has been very bitter, and Brad's legal team believed Jolie and her lawyers brought their fight in front of the public to hurt and embarrass the "Fight Club" star.

The judge in the case has also scolded Angelina for trying to drive a wedge between Brad and the kids, and warned that if she didn't help improve the relationship she may lose custody.

When the evaluation is completed, it's only a matter of time until a permanent custody order is put in place and the stars can move on with their lives.
