Billie Eilish is extremely upset at a magazine who chose to use her picture for their cover. The problem is she claims they used a fake, and manipulated it to make her bald and topless.
Nylon magazine announced they are putting out 3 different covers of Eilish for their new cover shots. Along with the the release, the company included a message of empowerment.
The post included the following, “This issue is all different while still keeping our NYLON spirit alive: We asked fans to tell the stories of three digital prodigies who are redefining the future of being a Teen Superstar. Are you as hyped as we are?? “
The huge issue is, Billie claims the company never got permission to use her photo or even contacted her for creative input. And she is pissed.
Billie exploded explaining she never gave permission for anyone to show her in this manner.
“What the fuck is this s***, ” Billie wrote.
“i was never approached by nylon about this piece whatsoever. i did not know it was happening nor did anyone on my team. this is not even a real picture of me. i had absolutely no creative input,” the singer continued.
Eliish then addressed the perceived sexualization of her in the same photo saying, “youre gonna make a picture of me shirtless?? thats not real?? at 17? and make it the cover????”
Billie concludes that even if she has not control over what NYLON is doing with her image she believes she should have had some warning, “even if the picture was supposed to look like some robot version of me… i did not consent in any way,” she told the magazine.
And this final thought, “ANNNDDD YOU’RE GONNA REMOVE ALL MY F* HAIR?
NYLON has since responded apologizing fro how they handled the situation, “For this cover, it was never our intention to create a look that is confusing or insulting to Billie Eilish. It was only ever our intention to honor Billies impact and her work by creating this avatar which is part of a cover series highlighting the power of digital prodigy artists. This avatar is a piece of 3D artwork created in dedication to her achievements and the positive effect she has had on millions around the globe – including us.”
Its unclear at this time if Billie is taking any further legal action against the company.
