Tina Knowles is thanking everyone who used their voice to protest in the days since George Floyd’s murder after charges were brought against three officers.

Beyoncé’s mother shared her joy after Attorney General Keith Ellison announced new charges for the arresting officers. Ex-officer Derek Chauvin added a 2nd-degree murder charge to his two existing charges. The three other officers, J. Alexander Kueng, Tou Thao and Thomas K. Lane, were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

The decision to charge the officers came after a week of peaceful protests around the world. Beyonce’s mother wrote a lengthy note calling the charges a “victory.”

Tina wrote, “To all the people who played a part in this victory . Whether you were physically on the front lines protesting . Getting shot by rubber bullets and tear gas , shouting at the top of your lungs. Or you joined a peaceful protest ! Signed petitions, got your friends or family to sign it . Got your non black friends to sign one or speak up! For our non black friends who joined it the cause and were brave enough to speak up! For our Newscasters and television personnel that used their platform !

She added, “The activist and organizations that organized the protest. For the people who left frivolous post behind and posted about what was happening with this case everyday updating people on developments and info. The brave police that had the guts and stood up and admitted this was wrong what the police were doing. To the celebrities who spoke up , , took the time to do PSAs . Signed pettions posted information on your social media platforms, called your other celeb peers out to speak up , organized , marched , used your Art to express the change needed and to spotlight the injustice! Whether you donated money to the families of the victims, posted continuously!”

Tina continued, “Supplied a platform to sign petitions and letters. Donated money to bail protesters out of jail, used your power to call the Governor and the prosecutors to help them see the truth and for them to do right thing., .risk your lives your career, make yourself a target of the right-wing organizations, and sometimes shamefully your own people.”

She ended the note, “Thank you to All who Contributed to the outcome which was successful , to get these guys at least arrested and charged , now we have the task ahead of us to get them convicted . We must have the same diligence to get this done so thank you and if I left anybody else out I’m sorry!!! But in this victory let’s not forget that we don’t have the right to judge anyone for how they choose to protest. Or dictate how they should protest, they’re all equally important and contributed to this outcome! Remember no one has a monopoly on how to be an activist ! God Bless You !!!”
