'Modern Family' Dog Beatrice Has Died

Beatrice, the French bulldog who appeared on "Modern Family," as Stella, has died.

It's unknown what her cause of death was.

Deadline writes that Beatrice died just days after the series wrapped. And recently, Beatrice was seen on the press circuit, posing for the TCA winter press tour.

Beatrice played Stella from Season 4 through its last season. Our reporting states that Beatrice was about 10 years old.

Beatrice was the dog in the Pritchett-Delgado family, and made her first appearance in the episode, “Good Cop Bad Dog.” Beatrice belonged to Guillermo, an inventor, who was portrayed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

According to the story, Jay Pritchette (Ed O'Neill) was able to convince Guillermo to return to school. As a result, Beatrice came to live with the Pritchetts.

Beatrice first joined the show as an understudy to dog Brigitte, who portrayed Stella until 2012.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played Mitchell Pritchett, gave a heartfelt message of love to Beatrice for all her hard work on the show.

“Rest In Peace sweet Beatrice. We love you so much,” Ferguson wrote, and added a crying emoji.

Entertainment Weekly writes that the agency that represented Beatrice, Good Dog Animals, hasn't responded for comment yet.

Guin Solomon, one of Beatrice's owners, wrote of how O'Neill was so fond of her.

“Ed O’Neill is in love with her! It’s very easy working with him because he brings Beatrice treats like popcorn and always looks out for her. We’ll be doing scenes in the backyard by the pool and in between takes he’ll say, ‘Would you please get Beatrice an umbrella, she’s in the sun!’ "

A note from the owners continued:

"Of course the crew loves to play with her when she’s out and about because she’s so fun and clowny. She really is one of the family!"

Given the awful state of the world right now, people are having a hard time weathering this news.

"No way can’t take this much bad news," wrote @MisterSiye.

"omg the saddest thing i’ve read today," said @leslienguyn.

Working on "Modern Family" wasn't Beatrice's only acting credit. She also appeared on "Workaholics" and "The Kominsky Method." Beatrice could also be seen in commercials for Dunkin' Donuts and Chase Bank.

"Modern Family" wrapped after 11 seasons. The two-part finale airs April 8.

Sofia Vergara, who plays Gloria Pritchett on the long-running show, wrote about her feelings on her Instagram page.

“What a day!! Saying goodbye to our Modern Family. I will never forget this set, this people, there were only good times. Thank you Moden Family Thank you Gloria Pritchett.”
