Sources close to Jimmy Bennett tell The Blast that he received an initial payment of $200,000 as part of his settlement over his claims of sexual assault by Argento.
We’re told Bennett receives monthly payments for the balance — that go from Asia’s lawyer to his lawyer to him — and that Bennett had no idea Bourdain was involved until about a week ago (presumably as part of the New York Times report). Our sources say Bennett always assumed Bourdain had no idea about the incident and settlement agreement.
As The Blast previously reported, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday afternoon that they were trying to get in touch with Bennett or his reps “in an effort to appropriately document any potential criminal allegations.”
Our sources say that Bennett, his reps, and his family members have received calls but Bennett has yet to speak to investigators.
Argento issued a strong denial on Tuesday and says she was “deeply shocked” by the report and called the allegations “absolutely false.”
