President Trump Spoke With Kanye West About Helping A$AP Rocky

By Gary Trock

A$AP Rocky has some heavy hitters in his corner working on his release from custody in Sweden, and President Trump announced the White House is getting involved.

As the hip-hop star remains in jail after Swedish officials ordered him to be held another week in pre-trial detention, Trump says he is now actively involved in working to free the American rapper.

Friday afternoon, Trump addressed the situation during a media conference in the Oval Office.

"A$AP Rocky is in a situation in Sweden ... Sweden is a great country and they're friends of mine, they're leadership, Trump explained.

Trump admitted he doesn't know Rocky, but said many of his African American friends have called and asked, "can you help?"

One of those African Americans is Kanye West, who has been lobbying for Trump to get involved with freeing the rapper.

"Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration," Trump later tweeted.

He added, "I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!"

On July 5, Rocky was in Sweden to perform at a musical festival when he and his bodyguards were involved in a physical altercation that made its way to social media.

Videos posted online showed a man being thrown to the ground by Rocky, but it was not clear who else was involved. An attorney for the rapper claims the entire situation was self-defense on Rocky's part.

However, the Swedish Prosecution Office announced on Friday that the court is allowing them to keep the rapper locked up a little while longer, because he is considered a flight risk, while they continue the investigation into an alleged assault.
