"America’s Got Talent" season 2 winner Terry Fator is firing back at his mother’s lawsuit against him, saying she is only looking to shake him down for money.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Terry is asking a judge to throw out his mom’s $1.4 million lawsuit, denying all allegations of wrongdoing.
He says, "This action is the latest in a series of attempts by Ms. Sligh—who, for much of the past three decades, has been estranged from her son, a successful Las Vegas entertainer—to extract from Mr. Fator substantial monetary payments to which she has absolutely no right or entitlement."
Terry says he has no contact with his mother for good reason, saying in his complaint, “Ms. Sligh once again proffers a litany of false and defamatory allegations against Mr. Fator, accusing him of supposed misdeeds extending as far back as the early 1990s.”
He accuses his mother of trying to only damage his public reputation and top extract a “windfall payment” from him.
Further, he argues, “While plaintiff may consider Mr. Fator’s alleged conduct insensitive and disrespectful—even, in some instances, verbally abusive—the same simply 'does not amount to outrageous behavior.'"
He is demanding the entire case be thrown out and his mother not be awarded a dime.
As The Blast first reported, Terry Fator's mother, 74-year-old Marie Fator Sligh, sued her son accusing him of defaming, bullying and tormenting her.
Marie claimed that Terry had been working to “obstruct and prevent his Mother from investigating the death of her daughter in Defendant’s home; and for refusing to work with his Mother to resolve their problems privately thereby causing his elderly Mother extreme fear, humiliation, anxiety, embarrassment and financial difficulty.”
Terry’s sister and Marie’s daughter, Deborah Fator, was found dead in Terry’s Las Vegas home back on June 21, 2015.
According to official records, Fator’s sister’s death was ruled a suicide from “multiple drug toxicity.” The coroner’s report states she had a combination of drugs in her system, including Oxycodone and Xanax. She was also found nude on the floor of her bedroom in Fator’s home.
Terry Fator’s mother claims many of the details surrounding the death don’t make sense to her.
She sued seeking $1.4 million in damages from her son and wanted a court to “terminate any and all parental ties and relationship” with Terry.
