Jeff Bezos Fires Off Legal Letter: I Did Not Cheat On My Wife!

By TheBlast Staff

Jeff Bezos is legally threatening the outlet who broke the story on his secret relationship with Lauren Sanchez, refuting accusations he cheated on his wife and claiming they were already separated.

Sources close to the situation tell The Blast Bezos' legal team sent a letter to the National Enquirer on Wednesday night, after the story hit newsstands.

We're told the letter was a threat of litigation for the Enquirer's story, and made it clear that Bezos did not engage in an extramarital affair with Sanchez, claiming he was separated from his wife before the relationship began.

Kind of interesting, in the same legal letter, Bezos also claimed he "supports journalistic efforts and does not intend to discourage reporting about him," but is steadfast that he did not cheat.

The Enquirer said Bezos was made aware of the story on Monday, and claims he tried to buy it from the outlet before it hit print.

Days later, Bezos tried to get ahead of the looming story and announced that he and MacKenzie were separating after 25 years of marriage.

However, sources close to the National Enquirer tell us they stand by their reporting, and in fact are planning to double down that they believe Bezos cheated with multiple follow-up articles and extended coverage.

Also interesting, Bezos utilized the law firm of Boies Schiller Flexner LLP to send the legal letter. That may sound familiar because attorney David Boies famously negotiated Harvey Weinstein's contract in 2015, and took a ton of heat after allegedly working with Black Cube to collect information and discredit Weinstein's accusers.

Sources familiar with the split of Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos tell The Blast the couple more than likely won't rush for a divorce until after the details are hammered out in mediation. Lauren Sanchez and her estranged husband are also mediating the end of their marriage.

As we reported, Bezos and Sanchez began getting hot and heavy while her production company was working for his aerospace company, Blue Origin.
