Amanda Bynes Wears Cap and Gown at FIDM Graduation

By Gary Trock

Amanda Bynes has overcome years of struggles to finally graduate from fashion and design school.

The former Nickelodeon star was among the thousands of graduates who participated Monday evening in the ceremony, held at Staples Center, for the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

Bynes received an Associate's degree in fashion design and posted a photo of herself with a friend, both clad in cap and gowns.

The star was also showing off some pink highlights added to her hair.

Bynes originally enrolled at FIDM following her treatment for mental health issues back in 2014, but was kicked out for behavioral issues.

She was able to re-enroll in 2017 and ended up following the program through until the end. We're told she was very motivated to finish up her classes and begin a career designing clothes for her own fashion line.

Along with mental health issues, Bynes also struggled with substance abuse for the last several years.

However, the now-sober star told Paper Magazine in an interview that, "Those days of experimenting are long over," adding that, "I’m not sad about it and I don’t miss it because I really feel ashamed of how those substances made me act."

As we reported, Bynes also sought out help earlier this year at a residential treatment facility and allegedly failed to pay up on the bill.

According to the documents, Bynes allegedly owes $2,467 for 2 days of treatment received at the facility.

Bynes has not yet signed on to appear on Nickelodeon's reboot of the "All That" series, and has not given any hint that she is interested in rejoining sketch comedy with her old co-stars.
