During one skit, Adele and other less famous women compete for the attention of a single man in a fake episode of ABC’s reality show “The Bachelor.” But there’s a problem — Adele can’t stop breaking into song.
Her habit is breaking down the rest of the contestants and annoying the bachelor himself.
Adele Made A Funny
“I’m here because I’ve had a lot of heartbreak in my life. First at 19, then famously at 21 then even more famously at 25,” Adele says while introducing herself during the skit.
She’s of course referring to her three albums, which she named after pivotal ages in her life. Her sophomore album, 21, immediately went platinum when it was released in January 2011, which basically solidified her career as an international pop star.
Read The Room, Adele
Among the songs she treated viewers to during the skit were “Hello” and “Set Fire To the Rain.” Her character had a habit of interrupting Ben’s encounters with other women was a sort of blind spot to her personality.
“This is a talking show,” actor Beck Bennett, who play Ben K, tells Adele after she launches into the sentimental ballad “When We Were Young.”
“Oh yes, I forgot about that,” she says, but still doesn’t quite get the memo that singing out your emotions isn’t part of the competition’s rules for getting a guy.
Burning Up The Set
Ben was left with no choice but to send her home, but not before Adele gave the audience a snippet of “Someone Like You.”
During her monologue, Adele said that her new album wasn’t ready yet, and told those watching that they would see more of her acting ability than anything else. But what she did sing during the “Bachelor” skit, she did nearly flawlessly.
Adele gushed about the opportunity to host the longtime skit show in an Instagram post:
“Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!! I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right. But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?”
