Ariana Grande got plenty of people talking wither live performance of her hit "thank u next" at the Grammys. The main conversation starter was how to she modified the lyrics "I'll be thanking my dad / 'Cause she grew from the drama" to "I'll be thanking my dad / 'Cause he's really awesome" while getting visibly choked up. This was a nod to her reconciliation with her father, Edward Butera, who she fell out with in 2014.

The other major moment was Grande potentially shading her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson by snapping shut an engagement ring box and tossing it away.

Grande and Davidson had a whirlwind romance in 2018 that ended abruptly and dramatically, and both have moved on to other relationships. So, what did Davidson think of this shade on a public stage? A source told Hollywood Life that he is relatively unbothered.

"Pete has moved on from Ariana, he’s well past being hurt by something like that. He wasn’t watching the show [he was at a basketball game] but he heard all about it and he took it in stride. He’s not holding a grudge and wishes her well. Pete has nothing but good things to say about Ariana."

After their break up, Grande only had nice things to say about Davidson even though the relationship crashed and burned. She called him "an amazing distraction."

"It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him."

This assessment makes total sense considering how quickly and publicly the couple played out their relationship. Grande was dealing with a lot between the Manchester bombing and the loss of Mac Miller, so taking on an intense, quickly burnt out relationship was definitely her way of coping.

Davidson has gone on to date a string of famous women, including Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, and most recently Kaia Gerber. He was asked about Grande during his cover story with Paper Magazine, and he really put the issue to bed.

"I don't ever make public statements about relationships 'cause I just don't think it's right, you know? I usually express how I feel about anything through work. So, I hope she's well. I hope she's very happy. And that's pretty much it. And print doesn't usually age well."
