An Internet Backlash

Kylie Jenner found herself in hot water after she posted two very different Instagram stories that showed an extreme lack of self-awareness. First, Jenner shared an image of a koala in the Australian wildfires expressing her heartbreak over half a billion animals dying in the flames, and then shared a picture of her expensive mink slippers. Yikes. Twitter obviously had thoughts.

"rich people are deadass so annoying, all ive seen all day is bitches like kylie jenner posting about how sAd they are about australia and asking their audiences to donate WHEN THEY’RE FUCKING MILLIONAIRES & BILLIONAIRES. I CAN BARELY AFFORD FOOD"

"i don’t understand how Kylie Jenner can post about the poor animals dying in the Australian fires and then two snaps later post a picture of her wearing real mink fur shoes"

A Second Controversy

A source told People that it was a misunderstanding.

"That post was completely unintentional. Kylie stands behind her desire to want to help provide relief towards the devastation the fires have caused."

This wasn't the only criticism that Jenner caught about the Australian wildfires. Jenner also posted a picture of her in front of a fireplace with the caption "Find ur fire." When her Instagram followers pointed out how obtuse this kind of caption was, her team changed the caption to "night out...💛"

However, the mess was made so Jenner needed to do some damage control.

Damage Control

People reports that Jenner is now donating $1 million to Australian relief organizations to aid both humans and animals in need.

According to reports, the first could continue for months, 25 people have lost their lives, and half a billion animals have died, leaving several species on the brink of extinction.

Jenner joins the ranks of celebrities like Chris Hemsworth, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, and P!nk donating their money to help various organizations doing their part to put out the raging fires.

Her Sisters Have Her Back

No matter her reason for giving, Jenner's donation will certain make a difference. Her sisters have her back over the criticism as well. Kim Kardashian tweeted in response to a fan dragging Jenner online.

"nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything"

Khloe also echoed the sentiment.

"Good deeds should be done with intention and not for attention. We are all blessed to be able to bless others even if it is in the slightest way. But we do not need to be boastful about that. Be boastful in regards to teaching others how they may be able to help as well."
