1. Down On Marvel

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has received some criticism lately, most notably from legendary director Martin Scorsese. When asked about superhero films in an interview with Empire earlier this month, Scorsese explained that he isn't a fan.

"I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being."

He doubled down at the BFI London Film Festival while promoting The Irishman.

"It’s not cinema, it’s something else. We shouldn’t be invaded by it. We need cinemas to step up and show films that are narrative films."

2. Jennifer Aniston Is The Latest

Actress Jennifer Aniston is the latest to criticize the pop culture juggernaut, telling Variety:

"You’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of: it’s big Marvel movies, or things that I’m not just asked to do, or really that interested in living in a green screen."

3. She Wants A Return To The Classics

She explained that she would rather see a return to a bygone era of movies.

"I think we would so love to have the era of Meg Ryan come back. I just think it would be nice to go into a movie theater, sit cozy. I think we should have a resurgence. Let’s get the Terms of Endearment back out there. You know, Heaven Can Wait, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Goodbye Girl."

4. Fans Are Dragging Her

Here's the thing: Marvel is basically the biggest thing around, so these criticisms don't really matter. It's merely a difference of opinion. However, some people are tweeting out that considering Aniston's Rotten Tomatoes track record... the idea of "diminishing cinema" might be a bit rich coming from her.
