Kevin Smith lost a bunch of weight since the heart attack last month that almost took his life, and now he's revealing that he's dropping lbs by following the diet of famous magician Penn Jillette.

The "Clerks" director spoke about the weight loss on his "Hollywood Babble-On" podcast, and said his doctor ordered him to lose 50 lbs ASAP. Smith said he's been following Jillette's book, "Presto!: How I Made Over 100 Pounds Disappear" which recommends a strict regimen of only potatoes for two weeks, then introducing other whole foods into the diet.

He said on the podcast that he was down 17 lbs, but then tweeted this week that he's now down "20 lbs in 13 days & my blood pressure is amazing."

Smith also revealed that his daughter, who is a vegan, is stoked because he's no longer eating "animal-related products." He admits though, "This doesn't come from a personal philosophy, this comes from an 'I have to.'"
