Bill Engvall is being sued by a fellow condo owner after the comedian allegedly failed to fix a faulty water heater that eventually leaked and caused some serious flooding.
According to a lawsuit obtained by The Blast, David LaCroix claims he owns a condo in the same property as Engvall. He claims the Homeowners' Association gave notice to all the residents that the water heater systems in the condominiums were old and recommended they be checked and replaced.
But Lacroix claims Engvall did not heed the warning and his water heater system failed, causing water to flood into the walls and onto the floors of Lacroix's condo.
After the flooding, Lacroix says Engvall opened a claim with his insurance company, North America Insurance Company. Lacroix says the adjuster examined his condo and estimated $32,000 in damages. Lacroix says the adjuster authorized him to begin the repairs.
So Lacroix began the process of repairing his condo but says the insurance company kept stalling him until finally sending him a letter rejecting the claim. Lacroix says he appealed the decision to the insurance company, but they denied him.
Lacroix is suing Engvall for negligence and the insurance company for breach of contract and fraud. He is seeking $50,000 in damages from both.
