Amy Schumer Asks For Donations to ‘Everytown for Gun Safety’ In Lieu of Wedding Gifts

UPDATE 2:30pm PST: Everytown for Gun Safety is thrilled that Amy is asking for donations instead of gifts. Valerie Jean-Charles, Deputy Press Secretary for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America tells The Blast:

“We are grateful to Amy Schumer for continuing to spotlight this uniquely American crisis. There is so much more we must do to fight gun violence, starting with committing to voting and speaking out on the issue. To find out how you can get involved in your area text ACT to 644-33”

Newlywed Amy Schumer, is known for not only being hysterical but being a vocal advocate for change and she’s taking advantage of the media frenzy around her surprise nuptials to bring light to gun violence.

The comedian posted a note on Instagram saying that she and her new husband Chris Fischer don’t want any wedding gifts are instead asking for people to donate to Everytown for Gun Safety.

Everytown is an organization that works to end gun violence in America. Amy’s request comes just a day after the deadly high school shooting in Florida that killed 17 people.

The Blast reported that Amy got married in a last minute wedding this week in Malibu. Famous friends Jennifer Lawrence and Judd Apatow were in attendance.

Because Amy Schumer is, well Amy Schumer, she also cracked a joke (and cleared up a big question) in the social media post as well: she’s definitely not preggers.
