Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, are calling it quits after 25 years of marriage, and the Amazon founder revealed they've been separated for quite some time.
"We want to make people aware of a development in our lives," Bezos tweeted Wednesday morning, adding, "As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends."
Jeff and MacKenzie married in 1993 after meeting while working at an investment management firm. They moved to Seattle and founded Amazon, and MacKenzie was one of the company's first employees.
Over the past 25 years, Bezos has grown his fortune into over $137 billion, and is now the richest man on earth.
It does not appear the couple has filed for divorce yet, and Bezos said, "If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again."
Bezos was most recently seen arriving solo at the 76th Golden Globes, and sat with Emmy Rossum.
