Adam Richman intended to shred the waves, but ended up shredding his hand after bailing into a coral reef and landing in the hospital for a week.
The former “Man v. Food” star was vacationing in Hawaii last week when he decided to take his first surfing lesson. He says after he a wipeout he got pushed by a wave into a coral reef, and “came up with about 20 or so sea urchin spines in it.”
Richman says he was able to get the wound cleaned at a local clinic, where he also got a tetanus shot, but his fingers soon swelled to the point he needed emergency surgery to drain all the gross stuff out.
He shared a picture of himself form the hospital where he says he spent the remainder of the week before returning home to recover.
Good to hear Richman is doing better, and you gotta figure from after all the uni he’s eaten over the years, taking one “L” to the sea urchins ain’t too shabby.
Riding my very first wave ever! Exhilarating, exhausting, unforgettable. It’s crazy how the more you try to do it, you can’t, yet when you go with the flow, everything is bliss. Zen on water. Thank you, to my instructor Ivan & his lovely wife who snapped this photo! Paradise Break, #Hawaii 🤙🏼🌊🏄🏻♂️🏝
