Aaron Hernandez‘s fiancée believes head injuries he suffered while playing in the NFL played a role in his suicide and she’s suing the league and the New England Patriots on behalf of their daughter.
According to a lawsuit obtained by The Blast, Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez claims Aaron suffered from Stage III CTE “usually seen in players with a median age of death of 67 years.”
She claims the league and the Patriots should have known that “Aaron’s football career placed him at greater risk for neurological degeneration.” The fiancée adds that “suicidal impulses” are recognized to be a symptom of late stage CTE.
Hernandez killed himself on April 19, 2017.
Hernandez’s fiancée is seeking damages in excess of $75,000.
