Enrique Iglesias Plans to Release Final Album, But Not for Retirement

Enrique Iglesias has announced the upcoming release of his newest album titled, "Final vol 1." The Spanish singer-songwriter is titling the album final because he plans to make it the last studio album that he’s ever going to produce. In putting that volume 1 label after the name he’s pretty much hinting there is still more to come. Enrique had a sit down with PEOPLE where he explained what his career path is going to be moving forward. From the looks of things, it seems like this album’s promotional tactics are a bit gimmicky, and he just wants fans to make a big deal out of nothing.

When you title a work Final there’s not much else, where you can go from there. Enrique confirmed in a recent interview that in fact, this was the last album that he was ever going to make. That doesn’t mean though that he would be closing the door on creating music altogether. If it doesn’t make sense it’s probably because it’s not supposed to. Anyhow, Iglesias mentioned,

"It means that it's the last album that I'm gonna make," he then went on to add "That doesn't mean I'm retiring”

Iglesias continued trying to explain his decision of putting out a final album. As we mentioned, it kind of seems like he’s trying to use a worn-out promotional tactic. Like a ton of those musicians that go on a farewell tour, but then a year later come back. Enrique defended his decision to at least title the album Final by explaining his thought process while making the album.

"It might be my final album," Iglesias said in a recent chat with Ricky Martin and Sebastian Yatra. "It's not something that I have been thinking about for the past few months. It's something that I have been thinking about for the past few years."

Iglesias has always been very quiet about his private life. Recently he shared videos where he plays some of his new music to his kids to see if they like what they hear. According to Enrique, his kids are the first filter that he uses to test his music. Apparently, the songs on his new album got their approval before he put them out. Iglesias sort of alluded to the fact that he’s looking to spend more time with his kids and less time working. When he mentioned,

"I'm in that moment in my life, that chapter in my life, where I think it's the right time to put it out and I've been thinking about this since 2015."

Enrique, Ricky Martin, and Sebastian Yatra are pretty busy this next month and change. They’ve been on tour together since the start of the month and will continue hitting up different cities across America and making stops in Canada through the end of October. When he’s out on tour his partner Anna Kournikova stays home with the kids.

The volume 2 version of his Final album is set to be released next year. After that, there’s a chance that we’ll see a bit of a hiatus or sabbatical years for Iglesias.
