Rapper Kodak Black Speaks Out About The Importance Of Staying Sober

Rapper Kodak Black is speaking out about a topic you wouldn't necessarily think he is passionate about, and that is living a sober life!
The 'Wake Up In The Sky' rapper was featured on his lawyer's Instagram speaking from a Broward County courtroom about people who are dealing with addiction problems. In the video, Kodak points out that drug and alcohol addiction affects all races and isn't connected to how much money you have in the bank.
"Kodak speaks to a Broward Courtroom of individuals dealing with addiction problems. He speaks about his own battles and issues and the things he feels are important to a sober life. I believe this is all part of the process of healing. There are missteps along the way, but people should always realize that the first step is wanting to get better," Bradford Cohen captions the video.
Kodak Black Says Addiction Harmed His Personal And Business Relationships
Unfortunately, there is no audio in the video (technical difficulties) so Kodak's lawyer gives us a play-by-play of what he is describing in the video.
"Sorry about the sound but he says that addiction affects white black poor and rich and he realizes that it has affected his relationships and business in the past and he knows that a sober life is one that is better and healthier," he wrote.
Interestingly, Kodak points out that many should use his words on social media to start a sobriety challenge instead of other more popular viral things like standing on milk crates. "Our community should embrace a #soberchallenge before some milk crates....realize what is important in your life, it's not social media," he said.

As we reported, Kodak has had several run-ins with the law associated with drug use. Back in 2019, the rapper (real name Bill Kapri) was arrested after officers near the Canadian border claim they found firearms and drugs in the vehicle the rapper was traveling in. At the time, KB was arrested on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
At this point, it's unclear if Kodak is including marijuana in his statements about being sober. Many celebrities have embraced the notion of being "California sober" which gives a pass to social drinking and weed smoking. In other words, none of the hard stuff. Again, many musicians claim smoking weed gives them a bit of a creative edge and many believe it doesn't lead to any other substances -- not to mention it's legal in many places.
Is Kodak Black Going 'California Sober' With Other Celebrities?!
In the end, it appears Kodak's fans are appreciating his views on the situation and really want to hear the audio of him speaking about it. "Hey Brad, I just got out of treatment yesterday, and Kodak is my idol, do you think you could maybe message me this audio?? I kind of feel like we might be going through some of the same stuff. It might really help me to say sober hearing what Kodak has to say about it. He’s my favorite artist," one person wrote.
