The first installment of “Harry Potter” first hit the big screens decades ago. Based on the eponymous books written by J.K Rowling, it ended up consisting of eight fantasy films.

Beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).

The series has raked in billions over the years, enriching Rowling, alongside the British trio that starred in the movie; Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley).

One of these actors, Watson, had no idea of her massive financial worth, while she was filming the series. Even after then, she still did not know she was worth a pretty penny for a while.

Here’s what the actress disclosed about her first splurge.

Emma Watson Had An Intense Reaction To Her Reality

While filming, Watson was only receiving 75 dollars a week from her father as her weekly allowance. This amounted to 300 dollars a month and would barely scratch the surface of what she had earned at that time.

Years later, her father made her aware of the millions she had garnered since the first installment of the movie. She could barely contain her emotions when she received the news.

“By the third or fourth film, the money was starting to get serious,” Watson shared in an interview with British Vogue. “I had no idea. I felt sick, very emotional.”

Even after she got access to her wealth, the actress did not spend them on luxurious things. On the contrary, she bought bits and pieces people considered as a norm.

This she revealed in a chat with Magazine. “Well, I bought a laptop. Oh! I got myself a car,” she shared.

What Type Of Car Did The Actress Buy?

More often than not, individuals with Watson’s net worth mostly buy high-end vehicles such as Mercedes, BMW, Ferrari, or any other pricey car. In some cases, they might decide to purchase more than one as a bit of showoff.

The “Little Women” star purchased the least obvious choice, a Toyota Prius. Her choice conforms with her character as an eco-friendly person as the Prius is among one of the cleanest vehicles sold in the United States, based on smog-forming emissions.

Even though she loved her purchase, Watson disclosed that her friends thought her car was quite unsatisfactory for her financial status.

“I got my license last year, and I love the Prius, even if my friends say it’s ugly,” Watson shared about her very first car.

“They say I drive a brick. And, to be fair, it’s not the prettiest car on the road, but it’s good for the environment. It’s sensible and boring—like me.”

Watson’s Special Gift To Her Father

Apart from the car and the laptop, the actress made a splurge that showed the depth of love in her heart. She decided to give her father a gift by taking him on holiday to Italy.

Watson shared that her dad worked hard, and the vacation was a treat to show how dearly she loved him for everything he had done for her.

“I took my dad to Tuscany,” she said. “He works so hard, my dad, so I rang up his secretary and asked when he was free, and I booked us a holiday.”

Watson’s father was the one who spurred her to be a bibliophile by getting her tons of books while growing up. This includes the Harry Potter books that ended up deciding decades of her life.

Is Waston Leaving Acting For Good?

Having made more than enough money from the Harry Potter franchise. The British-born, who just clocked 30, could simply walk away from it all while in her prime.

Fans felt that the actress hinted at this decision when she did not attend the press tour of her last movie “Little Women.”

Since then, she has not been associated with any upcoming film. Only time will tell if she has officially hanged her acting boots altogether.

Currently, the actress is more involved in social and humanitarian activities, with ties to the United Nations and other activist groups. She has also come out as a voice for feminism, inspiring others to label themselves as feminists.
