Recently, Jada Pinkett-Smith marked her 50th birthday, which is a significant milestone in anyone’s life. She celebrated the day with a Q&A session on her show “Red Table Talk.”
In this episode, she featured some of her famous friends and spoke about different aspects of her life. One topic she touched on was her relationship with Will Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino. Pinkett revealed on her show that there was a real ‘sisterhood’ between her and Zampino.
This revelation came after Angela Bassett asked Pinkett what the most challenging thing for her was? The actress revealed that her relationship with Zampino was one of the most challenging things she had to navigate in addition to motherhood.
She also opened up to her viewers about where she stood with Zampino. As Pinkett frequently talks about her marriage, such conversations are not a rarity for “Red Table Talk” viewers. This question, however, allowed her to focus on her relationship with Smith’s ex and how they have evolved together.
She revealed; “I would say another challenge was smoothing out my thoughts about the relationship with Sherry and me; it was a real process.”
She buttressed this statement stating that she was proud of the bond between her and Smith’s ex-wife. Admittedly, there was a rocky beginning, but they finally got to a good place.
Sherry Zampino Didn’t Always Like Jada Pinkett
Zampino and Will Smith married in 1992 and had a son named Trey Smith that year. However, in 1995, Zampino filed for a divorce from the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor.
Two years later, Smith married Pinkett, and they both had two children together; Jaden Smith and Willow Smith.
Although both parties are in a good relationship today, it wasn’t always a smooth one.

Apart from Pinkett revealing that it took some twenty years to get to this stage, Zampino revealed in a Hollywood Exes reunion that she initially didn’t like Pinkett Smith.
She shared that she first established trust with Pinkett when she and her son met the “Girls Trip” actress– Trey visited Pinkett and his dad when he was just three. When he came back, he told his mom that he liked Pinkett a lot.
Zampino shared that she felt relieved with Trey’s reaction but wasn’t so happy about the gift Pinkett gave her son.
Sherry Has Appeared On ‘Red Table Talk’
Zampino is no stranger to Pinkett’s “Red Table Talk,” as she has been a guest on the show several times. Her first appearance was on the series premiere back in 2018.
She and Pinkett spoke intimately about their blended family. There were various emotional moments as they shared highs and lows that they had experienced over the years.
Zampino returned to the show again for a holiday episode in November 2020. During this episode, the current and ex-wife of Smith cooked and chatted together. Also, both ladies shared how tricky it was to manage their blended family dynamics.
They then shared some family recipes and stories about thanksgiving dinners that they’ve shared. The ladies also spoke about awkward moments in their relationship and how they have managed to repair their relationship despite the situation they found themselves in.
Jada Is Always Brutally Honest About Her Love Life
One thing we can readily attest to is how honest Pinkett usually is about her love life. She first opened up about her unconventional marriage views in a Guardian interview. Here, Pinkett also shared information about her relationship views.
She revealed that Smith was her life partner, and she adored him. However, she wasn’t cut out for conventional marriages as she would feel suffocated in one. She also disclosed that many women felt caged because of the sacrifices they had to make to be in such a position, and she wasn’t ready for that.
Pinkett opened up about her love life when she addressed her fling with R&B artist August Alsina on the “RTT” show. Smith was a guest on this episode, and she explained the pain she was going through and her struggles to find happiness outside of herself.
Pinkett also told her husband that her relationship with Alsina allowed her to heal and grow. She acknowledged that she felt drawn to people who needed help, and the relationship allowed her to learn a lot about herself.
Jada Pinkett And Will Smith Don’t Do Anniversaries
Although Pinkett and Smith’s relationship sounds like something out of a romantic comedy, their story won’t have a traditional ending.
The 50-year-old actress is many things, but not your typical wife, as she doesn’t indulge in any form of conventional marriage. Pinkett shared that they (her and Smith) don’t celebrate the day they tied the knot.
This revelation doesn’t come as a shock to “RTT” viewers who are well informed about their unique marriage. The couple got married on December 31, 1997, and Pinkett revealed that she likes to be indoors on this day. Smith, on the other hand, prefers to be on an adventure in the world somewhere.

Pinkett once shared with her viewers that she never wanted to get married and felt pressured to do so after getting pregnant. She described her relationship with Smith as a life partnership that gave each other the freedom to have their adventures on every anniversary.
As part of their unique arrangement, they set aside ten days of the year to individually pursue personal adventures or dreams. Most of the time, this period falls during their anniversary.
