'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Star Stephanie Beatriz Debunks Baseless Myths Surrounding Bisexuality

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star, Stephanie Beatriz went candid while talking about bisexuality and the many misconceptions that society holds when it comes to the queer community.

Beatriz publicly came out in 2016, one year before she announced her marriage engagement with Brad Hoss.

People are fascinated about how Beatriz's character on the famous sitcom is the complete opposite of her personality in real life. That being said, she has always stood up for supporting people’s preferences and personalities and has spoken about the same on some of the largest platforms, including Netflix.

Beatriz sets the record straight by addressing the biggest myth that states bi people are 50% horse and 50% straight. Um, hello? Beatriz goes on to explain how it does not really concern anyone except the individual, which is to say that people must respect each other’s sexual preferences.

While the next myth may seem like a compliment, she explains how calling everybody bisexual crashes the whole idea of gender preferences and personal identification. She goes on to explain that bisexuality does not exclude any gender. If anything, it is gender-encompassing.

It appears that she has a firm grasp on what it is that she is advocating for, and she openly declares that being gender-inclusive for people who want to live between the gender spectrum is fundamental to bisexuality. Sexuality is a spectrum, it does not conclude to something rigid. Beatriz further says that she agrees with the same and is one of the many people that explain bisexuality as being attracted to more than one gender.

The anti did not let go of a single chance for bringing the queer community down. According to the next two myths, bisexuals supposedly have six toes and are unable to sit in a chair!

Beatriz, the fun, calm, and smart woman she is, added a tinge of humor to debunk these misconceptions. She fiddled with the chair pretending like she did, in fact not know how to sit in a chair.

To bust the attack on people’s bodies, she said that more people should be talking about people having six toes. This was an indirect address to everybody to cherish their bodies as they are, and seek help if they need to.

On addressing the rather funny myth that bisexuals could real mind, Beatriz tuned in her humor element and made the viewers smile in response to the subtle wit. For people wondering if bisexuality is a single word or not, she clearly stated that it is in fact BISEXUALITY, duh!

Finally, she spoke about how the assumption that being bisexual is just a phase or behavior is inaccurate. In her candid and authentic self, she explains that bisexuality is a personality, and it stays with people just like any other natural element of their bodies. To ridicule people or demean them because of their preferences is highly inappropriate.

Finally, she states that even if they had six toes, and were physically unable to sit in chairs, they should still be respected.

Gender is unique, and every single individual deserves to choose for themselves how they want to be identified and navigate through their journeys. Beatriz made it a tad bit easier for more people to understand how beautiful and unproblematic an accepting and gender-inclusive world would be.
