The couple made their first joint appearance in New York since welcoming their second child and daughter Lilibet back in June.
Harry and Meghan kicked off their visit to NYC at the One World Trade Center Observatory, where they joined New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Bill de Blasio. The mayor’s wife and son, Chrilane McCray and Dante de Blasio, were also in attendance.
The royal couple dressed for the occasion and weather in matching dark outfits. Meghan looked dashing in a black turtleneck and pants ensemble with a navy coat and suede shoes. She styled her hair in a sleek low bun and kept accessories to a minimum.
Harry donned a simple navy suit with a white shirt and tie as he held on to his wife. According to People Magazine, during a group photograph with the politicians, Meghan was asked how she felt about her return to New York, and she said,
It’s wonderful to be back, thank you.
Meghan and Harry are set to attend the Global Citizen Live at Central Park this weekend, and it’s the primary reason for their visit to the Big Apple. However, it seems there are other reasons for their trip.
A Romantic Getaway
The Blast previously reported that Harry and Meghan’s trip to the East Coast from their abode in Montecito, California, was for a getaway trip away from their kids, Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 3 months.
A source close to the couple revealed the visit would be more of a romantic one as it is their first time away from the kids since relocating to the United States.
Nevertheless, a core part of their visit is to continue their work of preaching vaccine equity. Earlier this year, the pair served as campaign chairs at the Global Citizen’s VAX Live: The Concert To Reunite the World.
At the virtual event, Harry gave a passionate speech about equitable vaccine distribution amid COVID-19 and the need to restore faith in humanity.

This weekend’s concert won’t be any different as the couple will join attendees to call on leaders of the G7 countries and the European Union to donate a billion COVID-19 vaccines. The festival will also have stars like Coldplay, Lizzo, and Jennifer Lopez as performers.
A History With New York
The couple, especially Meghan, has a history with New York. In February 2019, the former “Suits” actress visited the Big Apple to enjoy a lavish baby shower before the birth of Archie.
The Duchess was joined by her A-list friends Priyanka Chopra, Gayle King, Amal Clooney, and others for a shower at Mark Hotel penthouse, which allegedly cost $500,000.
Harry, on the other hand, last visited NYC in 2013 after the devastating Hurricane Sandy. This visit no doubt brings back nostalgic memories for the lovebirds.
