Did Jay-Z Almost Get Himself Into A Fight With A Heavyweight Champion?

Jay-Z has always had a reputation for being a tough dude. He can give out dirty looks that would intimidate almost anyone. Those dirty looks though, almost got him into some trouble big time. If he would've gotten into this fight there probably wasn't a way for Jay-Z to come out of this scuffle on top. That's because the person who he gave the dirty look to was none other than 2 times world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua! Joshua was the one who recently revealed the encounter with the rapper.

Before getting back into the Jay-Z incident we have to set the scene a bit. Anthony Joshua is a 2-time heavyweight champion as we mentioned. He’s a huge deal in the UK but had some trouble in his fights stateside. That’s potentially why Jay-Z probably didn’t have a good idea who he was. At least that’s what it looks like from what Joshua mentioned about the encounter.

Since Joshua is a big deal in the UK he gets invited to shows like the Graham Norton show rather regularly. It’s in some of these visits that he’s been able to take pictures with some big stars. Joshua just wanted to add another star to his picture collection with Jay-Z

Talking to William Hill Boxing before his upcoming bout Joshua remembered his encounter with Jay-Z. The boxer mentioned that he saw Jay-Z at a premiere for a Will Smith movie back in 2013. For Joshua, it was a moment that any fan could dream about. He mentioned that he grew up listening to Jay-Z music. We’ve already established that he likes to take pictures with famous people that he meets. So he was keen to find a way to get a picture with the rapper. He recalls,

“It was one of those big staircases, and I was in the top left. And I saw Jay-Z walk in,” He goes on to say, “In my head, I was like: ‘Yo, there’s Jay-Z.’ Know what I mean? Ready to jump down the balcony,”

At this point, it just seems like Anthony Joshua is just another fan that’s trying to get close to Jay-Z to get a pic. What can go wrong from here? Well, it seems that Joshua devised a plan to “intercept” Jay-Z when the two met up at a staircase that he saw Jay-Z was coming towards. He picked the right side of the staircase to be able to get close to the raper, but his approach method was a little rough! Joshua grabbed Jay-Z’s wrist in his effort to ask for a picture, this is what he recalls taking place,

“[I asked], Jay, do you mind if I get a picture?, and he kind of looked at my hand, yeah, like: ‘Boy, I will bust your head if you don’t get off my hand,'”

Ultimately Jay-Z did agree to take a picture with Joshua. Although judging from his face he probably did so because he took a hard look at Joshua and figured getting too tough with him wouldn’t be the best option. Joshua does recall that the moment was awkward, to say the least. He just gave someone his camera and the duo took a quick picture. He’s since picked up better methods of approaching celebrities for sure. Either that or he’s become more famous. Dame Judi Dench looks very comfortable with Joshua. We can’t imagine what would happen if Joshua squeezed her wrists!
