Alex Rodríguez’s luck seems to be turning. After a start of the year that saw him go through a very public split from fiancee Jennifer Lopez, he’s managed to turn things around for himself. Maybe not in the relationship department. That remains to be seen. He maybe hasn’t been so lucky in love, but he sure has been lucky in court! This new big win is essentially the second big win in court that he’s had this year. He beat out his former brother-in-law in a massive real estate dispute.
What Brought These Legal Issues On Rodríguez In The First Place?
Apparently, Alex Rodríguez and former brother-in-law Constantine Scurtis were business partners at one point. They had done a couple of business deals together mainly involving real estate ventures. Rodríguez, though, ended the partnership with Scurtis back in 2008. Right around the same time that he divorced his sister Cynthia Scurtis. The problem was that Scurtis and Rodríguez were sitting on 300 million dollars worth of family units that they had purchased in partnership. That’s 300 million reasons why Alex is having a tougher time divorcing his brother-in-law than actually divorcing his sister.
What Alex’s Side Is Claiming
If you believe Alex Rodríguez’s side of the story, at this point it seems the Florida legal system does, the lawsuits were just a way for Scurtis to get out of paying 1.4 million he allegedly stole from company funds. Alex has since countersued Scurtis over this matter. What his team claims is that Alex essentially removed him from the partnership because he had proof Scurtis had used 1.4 million of company funds on personal expenses. Rodrguez’s lawyer said their side has a mountain of evidence to prove Scurtis was actually the one in the wrong.
A-Rod Isn’t Out Of The Woods Just Yet
Although this is certainly a major win for Rodríguez in court the issue is far from over. Scurtis’ firm still holds allegations against Rodríguez that indicate he’s on the hook to pay them over 50 million dollars. This, over the same massive real estate acquisition, that both parties had made in partnership through the early 2000s.
It doesn’t take a legal expert to put out an educated guess over where this whole ordeal is going to end up. Essentially the side that is able to get the other side to initiate compensation talks will be the side that wins. With these massive corporations, it’s all about the money.
His Other Legal Win
Alex Rodríguez’s corporate legal team is looking as dominant in court as OJ’s legal team. That’s why he pays them the big bucks! They granted Alex and a business partner another legal victory which saw the former baseball player be allowed to take over the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team.
While all of these legal issues are playing themselves out Alex is finding time to have some good fun. Partying on a yacht in France over the summer, hosting his new NBA team in his Miami mansion, while then jetting off to party at the Met Gala. This man is living his best life.
