The legal battle between former couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt doesn’t seem to be coming to an end anytime soon!
In recent documents gotten by US Weekly, Pitt dragged his estranged wife to court over his share of their luxurious vineyard, Chateau Miraval, where they tied the knot back in 2014.
The “Fight Club” actor filed a lawsuit today, September 21, in Luxembourg, accusing Jolie of trying to cut him out of a lucrative deal on their shares of Chateau Miraval.
The “Maleficent” star was accused of using sneaky methods to go behind her ex-husband’s back to sell her shares of the property to a third party. According to the documents, the former couple individually owned the lush property through separate limited liability companies (LLC) before getting married.
Pitt originally owned 60% of Quimcum, the company that owns Miraval, through his LLC Mondo Bongo, while Jolie held 40% through her company Nouvel.
However, after tying the knot, Pitt transferred 10% of his shares to Jolie, making them both equal partners, on the agreement that each party will consult the other if the sale of the property ever comes.
Unfortunately, Jolie defied the agreement when she tried to cut corners to sell the vineyard. If she could sell the expensive property valued at $160 million, she would have made quite a profit but at the expense of her ex-husband.
The lawsuit also accused Jolie’s company of “delaying the approval of the annual accounts and the renewal of the manager” in the past, thereby not acting in the best interest of Miraval.
A Former Battle For Chateau Miraval
In July 2021, The Blast obtained documents that revealed Jolie took Pitt to court over the property after being unsuccessful at selling the property to a third party.
In the lawsuit, she accused Pitt of not being cooperative and responsive after she tried to sell her half of the vineyard to him, but they couldn’t settle on a deal.
She reportedly made several proposals and negotiations after their marital disagreements interfered with their joint management of the asset, and issues arose with “substantial expenditures being incurred based on the unilateral directive of Mr. Pitt.”
However, despite Jolie and her team’s effort, they couldn’t get Pitt to arrive at a deal for over two years. It was at this point that the 46-year-old actress decided to look for a third party she could sell to.
Details On The Jolie Vs. Pitt Divorce Battle
After two years of marriage, Jolie filed for divorce from her “Mr & Mrs Smith” co-star in September 2016. However, they have remained head-locked in a nasty custody battle over their five under-aged children, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and the twins, Knox and Vivienne, 13.
Their oldest son Maddox is 20. In May, there was a major update to the divorce battle when Pitt was granted joint custody of their six kids after a lengthy back-and-forth between the duo. The custody order was given by judge John Ouderkirk.
In August last year, Jolie asked that Ouderkirk be dismissed from the case citing a personal relationship between him and her ex-husband’s lawyers. Her desire eventually came through in July this year when her petition was granted.
Pitt has since challenged the removal of Ouderkirk, asking that the decision from the Second District Court of Appeal in California be reviewed.
