Dr. Dre Ordered To Pay More of Estranged Wife's Attorney Fees In Divorce, Now Totals Over $4 Million

Dr. Dre is battling in one of the most expensive divorces of all time, this after a judge ordered him to pay attorney fees for his ex-wife that are in excess of $4 million!
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the judge in the 'Chronic' rapper's divorce case has issued a temporary order which lays out how much support he will have to pay his estranged wife, Nicole Young. Besides a massive amount of spousal support, the judge ordered Dre to pay an extra $1.55 million in attorney fees.
As we reported, the legendary rapper has already shelled out a payment of $2 million, and in the past year, two separate payments of $500,000 each. If you do the math, this is getting to be very, very expensive!
Why so much you ask? Well, the judge touches on the reason behind such hefty fees and the answer is simple...really good lawyers.
"The attorney’s training and experience in family law. Ms. Samantha F. Spector and Lisa Helfend Meyer, certified family law specialists, have significant years of experience in family law and have extensive practical experience in complex family law matters. Considering the level of the case’s complexity, and the issues involved, an attorney of their level and skill is reasonably necessary; and therefore, the various hourly rates of the primary and secondary attorneys participating in this litigation are reasonable and justifiable," the order reads.
As for the monster attorney fees, the judge writes, "considering what is just and reasonable and using the Court’s own experience and knowledge that the payee’s reasonable fees are $3,000,000.00 and costs are $ 550,000.00." So, adding up the previous payments, the cost JUST for Nicole's lawyers is now totaled at over $4 million.
In this case, Dr. Dre is being ordered to pay all of the lawyer's fees based on the "disparity" that exists between the two parties' assets and income. According to the court order, Nicole has assets totaling "approximately 39 million dollars" and Dr. Dre has approximately "243 million dollars."
Shockingly, the attorney's fees are just the tip of the iceberg. The payments are only good through July of 2021, and both sides are being asked to meet and confer over what the costs might be to take the case to trial. In other words, if they don't settle this case, it might be the most expensive divorce case in history.
Plus, the judge reiterated the spousal support to be paid by Dr. Dre to his ex-wife, and the total for the past year is a whopping $3,812,978! The good news, Dre's fees are being offset by living expenses and other payments for the couple's homes, security, and other expenses. So, in the end, most of the money might have already been spent.
Bottom line, let's hope these two can work out their differences and settle this monster case. If not, break out the checkbook!
