The 2021 Emmy Awards Ceremony was a historic night for the host of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” RuPaul, who earned the title of the most Emmys won by any person of color.
The award for “Outstanding Competition Series” earned the record-breaking host his 11th Emmy Award win on Sunday. American cinematographer Donald A. Morgan previously held the title.
The celebrity host dedicated his award to the worldwide participants of the show and expressed his gratitude to them. He sent a message of encouragement to would-be drag racers, saying,
Thanks to all our lovely children on our show… They are so gracious to tell their stories of courage… This is for you. And for you kids out there watching, you have a tribe that is waiting for you…
The honorary award which the television personality won on Sunday is an impressive feat considering popular shows including “Top Chef” and “The Voice” were nominated in the same category.

RuPaul Andre Charles was born on November 17, 1960, in San Diego, California. According to Style Caster, he lived with his three sisters and mother after his parents divorced in 1967.
15-year-old RuPaul moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in performing and worked as a backup singer for years. He released his debut album, “Supermodel of the World,” in 1993.
The artist signed a modeling contract with Mac Cosmetics before publishing his autobiography “Lettin’ It All Hang Out.” His hosting career, however, began in 1996 on the “The RuPaul Show.”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” first aired on February 2, 2009. The show has birthed highly rated spin-offs, including “RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars” and “RuPaul’s Drag U.”
The series, which the 60-year-old is also an executive producer on, involves a group of drag queens who compete in performance and fashion contests to be crowned the next drag superstar.
