Cecily Legler Strong, born on February 8, 1984, was raised in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She is a popular American actress and comedian.
Strong was born to Penelope and William "Bill" Strong, who worked as an Associated Press bureau chief and now runs his public relations firm. Her mom was a nurse practitioner and worked at area hospitals.
Strong is the niece of prolific Broadway producer, Edward Strong. She attended Oak Park and River Forest High School respectively. This was until her sophomore year when she was expelled for bringing weed to school.
She then transferred to a private Catholic school until her senior year where she moved to the Chicago Academy for the Arts and graduated in 2002.
She went on to study acting at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and graduated in 2006 with a BFA in theatre.
After graduating, Strong returned to Chicago where she studied at the Second City Conservatory.
Strong's Time With 'Saturday Night Live'
Strong's fascination with "Saturday Night Live" began as a child when she would reenact sketches from the show and record old "SNL" commercials which she watched every day. She said her inspiration was the late "SNL" cast member, Phil Hartman.
Strong’s long-held dream of joining the cast of "SNL" came true on September 15, 2012.
In 2014, she was selected as co-anchor for SNL’s "Weekend Update," the program’s most prestigious role. She mentioned that she was teary-eyed when it happened. "I was truly close to tears. I was trying to keep it together. It was overwhelming and I was so honored.”
She co-anchored with Seth Meyers and later Colin Jost. "Weekend Update" debuted one of Strong’s signature characters, "The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party." This was hailed by Rolling Stones Magazine as an instant classic.
However she quit that same year after hosting the segment for just one season. This came after she realized that she was limited, as the show didn't allow the anchor to appear in regular sketches.
Cecily Strong's Personal Life
Strong has been single for most of her adult life and according to her, it's enjoyable. However, her friends tried to set her up with men, but none of it panned out.

Per sources, Strong started seeing a man named Jack. They began dating in December 2019, and were together for two months before they made the relationship public. Other than his last name, there's no other information about this lover.
Nevertheless, reports confirmed that he's a New York businessman. The "SNL" star left no doubt that she cared about the relationship and wanted it to last.
In an essay published for Vulture, Strong mentioned that she loved her boyfriend very much. This projected to fans that the duo was in a serious relationship.
Shortly after they made their relationship known, Strong's boyfriend contracted the Coronavirus.
In the same statement, she reflected on how much she cared about her boyfriend and feared losing him. Prior to this, the Comedian lost her cousin to brain cancer and feared her boyfriend might be next.
