Tampa Bay Tom Brady is a much more relaxed character than New England Tom Brady ever was. We are not just saying that because he was clearly hammered in the Super Bowl boating parade that the team held after last year's big game. Although those images of him literally throwing the Super Bowl trophy around and then needing some extra help while leaving the event is certainly epic. The Tampa Bay team media is helping shape the more relaxed image of Brady. Particularly through their "Tommy and Gronky" video series. The videos feature Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski chilling in Florida. This time around though, Brady dropped a bomb in the last installment of the mini-video series.

We just got finished saying that the atmosphere of the videos in the Tommy &  Gronky series is super light-hearted. Therefore, it's probably a good idea to not overreact to anything that is said within this segment. That being said ... Tom Brady just mentioned with a straight face that he could see himself playing professional football until he's 50 years old! Gronk then tried to downplay the hot take by making a joke. Which, we'll get to in a bit. However, let's stay serious, could Brady play until he's 50 years old?

Tom Brady is currently 44, and it's not like his level of play has dropped dramatically. He literally just won the Super Bowl last year. Plus, that famous TB12 anti-aging method that has you eat a ton of avocado ice cream seems to be working. There are people in their 20s that don't look as good as Tom in his mid-40s! How many more years would Tom have to play to officially be the oldest player to ever play? He'd have to play until he's 48. Which is the current record held by George Blanda. Even at his age, he's still got a ways to go.

After Brady said that he could play until he's 50 and then ride into the sunset as yet another retiree resident of Florida, Gronk chipped in with another question. “Will Gisele let Tom play until 50? That’s the real question,” said Gronkowski. Tommy was literally put on ice skates with that question. Brady then proceeded to reply to the question saying,

"That’s a way better question,” Brady said, laughing. “That was of course, no, that answer.” He then backtracked and literally issued a quick apology to Gisele saying, "I’m just kidding. I’m sorry baby, I love you. You would let me. You would let me doing anything as long as I’m happy.” Apparently, Tommy isn't as dominant in his household as he is on the field!

Brady's Ideal Retirement Age

Although retirement doesn't seem to be something that Tom Brady thinks about often he has directly addressed the question of what age he would like to retire at. Essentially he's aiming to retire as soon as his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expires. He signed a 2-year extension in the off-season. That's going to keep them in Tampa until after his 45th birthday. That would leave him about 2 and a half seasons short of the NFL record. Maybe when his contract's up he'll find a way to convince Gisele to let him play another 5 more years!
