Alex Rodriguez has had a very active 2021. It started at a presidential inauguration ceremony escorting then-fiancee Jennifer Lopez. Now he’s allegedly hosting around 50 members of his own NBA team in his house in Miami. No, he did not buy a stake in the Miami Heat. Alex and business partner Marc Lore purchased the Minnesota Timberwolves team from Glen Taylor earlier this year. After some turmoil with the sale of the team Alex is looking to make sure that team members understand there’s new management in town. That’s potentially why he’s hosting massive parties.
Bringing Some Swagger To The Team
The NBA season is not ready to kick off just yet with preseason games starting in very early October. However, teams are getting ready for the season. As part of the change in management Rodriguez and Marc Lore decided to hold team practices in Miami. Potentially doing so in an effort to get the team’s players literally out of Minnesota. Nothing against the twin cities, but in the NBA landscape players make it clear that they usually want to play for warm city teams or big markets. Moving training camp to Miami is being seen around the league is a way for the team to attract more players.
A Dinner To Show Off His Mansion
Someone who was part of the festivities, we don’t if it was a player or a member of the staff, told Page Six that Alex hosted a massive dinner party for over 50 people. The event was held in his 11,000-square-foot Coral Gables, Fla., home. That home is also the place where Alex keeps his art collection. According to reports, the former Yankees players did take advantage of the event to show off some of the paintings. All of the players from the Timberwolves including Karl Anthony Towns, and DeAngelo Russell were in attendance. Also, some VIPs like, A$AP Rocky, French Montana, Chance The Rapper, Travis Scott, Alexander Wang, Justine Skye and Swizz Beatz enjoyed the event.
They Don’t Own The Team Just Yet
Even though Alex Rodriguez is already hosting dinner parties for the team and potentially calling some of the shots in the organization he and Lore don’t own the team just yet! The duo bought both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA for 1.5 billion dollars. They are going to be doing a gradual take over of the organization starting out with the purchase of 20% of the franchise outright. The full takeover isn’t expected to happen until 2023. This, after a judge, dismissed a lawsuit from the second-largest shareholder of the team. Who opposed the sale of the franchise to Rodriguez and Lore.
It’s Parties Everywhere For Alex
After his breakup with Jennifer Lopez, we got a chance to see a very sad and out-of-shape A-Rod sitting alone at a restaurant. He’s since snapped out of it though. Over the summer he rocked a six-pack on his yacht while on vacation in the French Riviera. Where he was rumored to have flirted with a few ladies here and there. After this mega bash that he held for his new team, he jetted off to New York. Where he’s also been seen in the party scene prior to the Met Gala. It’s good to see the former slugger back on his feet!
