The MTV Video Music Awards was the star-studded event promised! Hosted by Doja Cat the VMAs, as with every year, had a few jaw-dropping moments. The fashion was on point, the red carpet offered some noteworthy moments and of course, the performances were worth the wait.
Here is what the 2021 VMAs offered up this year:
The Guest List
Everyone showed out for the VMAs. Is it because COVID restrictions are loosening up and people are willing to go anywhere, or because performers are still vying for the coveted moon man?
People showed up who fans haven’t seen on a red carpet in years. Avril Lavigne made an appearance in a pink ab-bearing crop top. Cyndi Lauper also made an appearance with her son, Declyn let’s be honest that’s almost unheard of.
Other stars who showed up were Normani, Saweetie, Jack Harlowe who took the stage with Lil Nas X, Kacey Musgraves who recently dropped her new album Star-Crossed and a companion film. And Chloe Bailey showed up with a spoon as an accessory.

The Performers
The performers included Shawn Mendes who performed his song “Summer of Love” he was introduced by his girlfriend Camilla Cabello who referred to him as “my guy”. Twenty One Pilots performed “Saturday”, Ed Sheeran used the outdoor stage to perform “Shivers”.
Of course, fans went wild when Justin Bieber and Kid LAROI performed “Stay” and “Ghost”. They hopped in like moon men and descended on the stage in a dramatic, yet entertaining entrance.
Olivia Rodrigo performed her sound-alike hit “Good 4 U” don’t worry, the f-works were obviously bleeped out. Busta Rhymes did a mashup of some of his songs including “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” and “Touch It”.
The 49-year-olds performance was kind of a big deal because he brought out Spliff Starr and Swiss Beatz. Plus, he showed he’s still got it by rapidly reciting his verse from Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” without missing a beat or skipping a word.
Rounding out the night included performances by Host Doja Cat, Camilla Cabello, Kacey Musgrave, Ozuna, Alicia Keys, and Swae Lee, Foo Fighters, Normani, Chloe of Chloe x Halle and Lil’ Nas X.
‘Future Baby Daddies’
Another performance that stood out was from Machine Gun Kelly featuring Travis Barker. The sometimes rapper and badass drummer performed “Paper Cuts”. Introduced by their girlfriends Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian who titled them their “future baby daddies”.
The couples were later seen on a double date celebrating the big night for their men. Fans are of course assuming that the shocking comment means one of the women (maybe both) has a bun in the oven!
The Fashion!
Needless to say, guests showed up in outfits that you could not get away wearing anywhere else. Not even the upcoming Met Gala would accept some of the out-of-the-box attire, but MTV sure did.
Charli XCX stunned in a black, lace min-dress and hair high to the sky. Winnie Harlow gave fans legs for days, Debby Ryan looked like a rockstar’s wife, oh wait, she is! “Heartbreak Anniversary” singer Giveon also showed off his legs in a shorts suit.
Of course, the hits of the night were J. Lo in her two-piece, Fox in her sheer floor-length gown, Kardashian in a tight leather number, and Lil’ Nas X who showed up in a lavender suit with a train and an off the shoulder detail.
