Summer is quickly coming to an end and Lana Del Rey just announced she is deactivating all of her social media accounts.
Talk about summertime sadness!
On Saturday, September 11, the songstress announced she would be leaving social media behind due to new jobs and endeavors.
She started out her nearly three-minute-long video saying, “Hi guys, I just wanted to let you know that tomorrow we are going to be deactivating our social media accounts, my social media accounts and that is simply because, uh, I have other so many other interests and other jobs I’m doing that require privacy and transparency.”

Lana continued, “I just wanted to say that I’m obviously continuing to make my spoken word albums and my records and still writing my short poetry books, and that I’m still very present and love what I do. I’m absolutely here for the music and that I’m also just, you know, going on some different endeavors and I want to say thank you so much all the support and I do hope you like the record.”
The singer went on to describe her new album as a compilation of many things.
“It’s a compilation of older songs and a few newer songs. Some are written by family and friends and mostly old collaborators,” she said. “And there will probably always be more to come. For now, I just want to say thank you so much for the support and it’s been much appreciated and I want to say a heartfelt, uh, just thank you for continuing to kind of see me through the music.”

Lana said she would be keeping her “circle” a little bit closer and continue to develop other skills and interests.
Fans were devastated by the news with many commenting feelings of sadness and remorse.
One fan wrote a tragedy novel in her comments section.
“Everytime you posted something on here it was like a ray of light between what’s usually posted on social media. This ray of light was always waking me up, reminding me life is always better when you stay true to yourself and that’s what you do again. I will miss that! Although my heart is broken imagining an empty Instagram feed without Lana Del Rey, I am grateful for all that you gave us and excited to see what treasures you will surprise us with in the future ❤️ Ps: even if you delete your profiles from your phones, it would be wonderful to let them be on Instagram still – just like memorial park to take a stroll in and revisit some beautiful memories every once in a while … ❤️” the fan wrote.
Another person commented, “My Instagram will be boring without you, but I’ll wait for you queen ❤️❤️.”
See, the summertime sadness is REAL! Okay, I’m done referencing that song.
