Selena Gomez Is Planning On Skipping This Year's Met Gala

Selena Gomez is reportedly part of a growing list of celebrities who are opting out of this year’s Met Gala!

The annual gala, except last year due to covid-19, will be held on Monday, September 13 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

According to Instagram account PopFaction, Selena will not be attending this year’s gala according to her makeup artist Hung Vanngo.

Selena skipped out on the 2019 Met Gala after a mortifying 2018 appearance.

The singer posted a slew of Instagram Stories the night before the 2019 Met Gala; however, she was nowhere near New York City.

In fact, she was at Disneyland in California living her best life at the happiest place on earth.

In 2019, her makeup artist, Vanngo, confirmed to a fan that she would not be attending the annual gala.

So, there may be truth to the claim she isn't attending this year!

Instagram account @darkpieceofart posted a photo from a runway show and captioned the post, “this year’s #metgala theme is “camp: notes on fashion” and its supposed to wear fun stuff, playful and a made of enjoyment of appreciation-not judgement it’s all about being too much. This Moschino spring 2018 collection would be so f***ing pretty on her we want something like this for selena to follow the theme not some basic dress please she deserves this.”

Vanngo commented on the photo writing, “She is not going so you can chill on your posts. Xx”

Selena recently opened up about her dreadful 2018 Met Gala appearance.

During a “Beauty Secrets” segment for Vogue’s YouTube channel, Sel opened up about her overly tanned Met look.

“For the Met Gala I was getting ready and we wanted to add some color, so I put on some of this tanning lotion and it looked very beautiful and very even,” she explains. “As the evening kept going on it was getting a little darker and darker, and I didn’t notice it. And, I’m at the Met Gala, basically one of the most prestige, beautiful events. I’m walking and trying to act all beautiful, and I look at a photo of myself when I sit down and I’m completely orange.”

While recounting that particular evening, Selena was giggling throughout the entire video.

She knew at the time she would get ‘eaten alive’ for her look, and the best way she knew how to respond was to post the video of her running away.

“My first reaction was just to get the hell out of there,” Selena admitted.

Adding to the “absent” list for this year’s Met Gala is Zendaya and Dua Lipa.

Justin and Hailey Bieber are confirmed to be attending, which will mark their first Met Gala together.
