"Skins" star Kathryn Prescott has been badly injured after being hit by a cement truck while she tried to make it across a busy street in New York City.
The accident took place last week and left the 30-year-old star in intensive care with serious injuries.
This heartbreaking news was confirmed by Megan Prescott, the star's twin sister, who took to her Instagram, writing that she "narrowly missed paralysis" and "was lucky to be alive."
While sharing the news, Prescott revealed in part, "After fighting through complex surgery some of Kathryn’s injuries include: broken pelvis in two places, both of her legs, her foot and her left hand," she continued.

"She is incredibly lucky to be alive. She narrowly avoided paralysis. The doctors are hopeful that she will make a full recovery but this will only be possible with the correct care right now."
However, it's unclear where Kathryn Prescott is being treated or where precisely the accident occurred.
Kathryn's Twin Appeals For Help
Megan Prescott, who starred in Skins alongside her sister, said Kathryn was alone in New York and would need help until she is able to walk again.
However, due to COVID restrictions, she wasn't given permission to travel to the US, despite being double vaccinated and having a PCR.
At the moment, only U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents can travel from the UK to the US, with few exceptions.
An application for a special exemption was denied by the US embassy and Megan Prescott is now looking for help to overturn the decision.
In the post she shared on Thursday, she wrote, "I need to be there to help her with literally everything as she will be able to do incredibly little by herself. She will be in rehab for a very long time and will need 24/hr care even after she leaves the hospital."
Megan Prescott said she was willing to "fly at the drop of a hat" and "do anything to get to her as soon as humanly possible" as she did not want her sister to "go through this, alone."
Alexandra Shipp, Kathryn's co-star in Netflix’s 2018 film "Dude," reacted to the news of Kathryn’s injuries.
"This is so terrible!! I’m sending you guys love. I’m going to figure out how to help!” she wrote.
April Pearson, a co-star in "Skins," also commented saying; "I'm so sorry to hear this Meg, if only I could do more to help."
Who Are The Prescott Twins?
The Prescott twins made their acting breakthrough in British teen comedy-drama "Skins," when they joined and played roles in the third season in 2008, and played twins Emily and Katie Fitch.
At the moment, Megan Prescott is a body builder. She's been documenting her fitness journey on Instagram for months now.
She recently shared a video titled, "Megan Prescott: Dumbbells and Donuts Introduction." The video entailed a documentary of her fitness challenge.
"This documentary follows Megan Prescott (star of E4's drama series Skins and our short horror film Turn Around When Possible) on a 10 month personal journey as he pushes her body and mind to the limit training to compete in a UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Bikini-Fitness event in May 2016," the video caption read.
Megan even shared a number of photos of her incredible abs and muscles on Instagram proving she is a fitness goals.
Kathryn on the other hand, went on to star as Carter Stevens in US series "Finding Carter" and also appeared in films including "To The Bone," alongside Lily Collins and Keanu Reeves, and "A Dog's Journey'' which starred Dennis Quaid and Josh Gad.
What's 'Skins' About?
"Skins" is a British teen comedy-drama television series that followed the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England, through the two years of sixth form.
The plot explored societal issues like dysfunctional families, mental illness (such as depression, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder), adolescent sexuality, gender, substance abuse, death and bullying.
This controversial, long-running series won a BAFTA Audience Award and was nominated for Best Drama Series.
It was produced by Matt Strevens and created by Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain. Cast that starred in the show included Nicholas Hoult, Mike Bailey, April Pearson, The Prescott twins, Hannah Murray and a slew of others.
Moving Forward
Although the US embassy has not responded to any of the allegations, Kathryn Prescott has pleaded with her followers to help spread the word.
She urged supporters to help in any way they could. She also warned them not to reach out directly to her sister.
This was because she needs all the rest she can get at this time. "She needs to rest at the moment," she concluded.
We hope she gets all the help she can get at this critical moment and her sister gets fully recovered. Until then, we would be watching things as they unfold.
