Britney Spears is asking to keep her conservator in place, even if she is legally allowed to be let out of the 13-year legal case. And...ya, we are all asking the same question -- what gives?!
According to multiple reports, the 'Toxic' singer is asking Jodi Montgomery -- who was appointed as her conservator when her father stepped down -- to continue working for the pop star, even if she is formally removed by the court. Let us explain.
Apparently, Britney has no issues with the work that Montgomery has done with her case, and her only real issues are with her father, Jamie Spears. The pop star has asked Jodi to stay on her payroll "indefinitely" and work with her team beyond the scope of the conservatorship.
Britney Spears' Conservator Staying On The Payroll?!
As we reported, Britney's father has filed documents to end the 13-year conservatorship -- and it appears that's exactly what might happen. At this point, the only issue is whether or not the judge wants to order an evaluation of the pop star, to see if she can handle the day-to-day responsibilities of her life.
Sources close to the situation, say that Britney has already asked Jodi to stay on the team and hopes she will continue to work on various tasks including managing the house staff, working with her doctors to make sure she is on the right mixture of medication, and arranging chefs and meals, even organizing her personal calendar.
Britney Spears' Father Is Stepping Down From The Conservatorship
Obviously, this is a very similar job to what a conservator would do for Britney if they were ordered by the court -- but, Jodi has already been doing the job and Britney is happy with her life. Again, the only issue is getting her father out of the picture -- and that is all but a done deal.
Interestingly, Britney has not yet filed any legal documents to end her 13-year conservatorship. When she is ready to pull the trigger, it will be a two-step process. One, she will have to wait until her father is out of the case -- second, she will need to formally ask the judge to dismiss the case altogether.
In a shocking turn of events, Britney's father agreed to step down at the next hearing on September 29, 2021. Jamie has filed documents asking the court to formally terminate the conservatorship without any mental evaluation. To his credit, he claims the decision came after hearing his daughter's pleas to remove the case -- and she asked there be no mental evaluation upon the exit. Unfortunately for Britney, it will be very hard to convince a judge, who has been involved from the beginning, that they don't need an evaluation before ending the case.
So What's Next?
In the past few weeks, Britney's dad made it clear he will support his daughter regardless of his position as conservator, "Jamie Spears Regardless of his formal title, Mr. Spears will always be Ms. Spears' father, he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests," he wrote.
Now, the case is in the hands of the judge. Either way, it appears Jodi Mongomery will continue working for the pop star!
