It has been a common school tradition to have sections in a yearbook where students guessed and voted on “who is most likely” to be or do something.
A particular favorite of this section was the “Who is most likely to be famous” vote, and it has famously been a tough one, especially where the school had two or more students who had high prospects of entering Hollywood, writing a bestseller book, finding the cure to some disease, or achieving a feat that propels them into fame.
So, imagine that two or more of these students did become famous. This means that some of the celebrities we know today probably shared a classroom, ate at the same cafeteria, and passed each other in school hallways with no idea of their future.
It is crazy to imagine, but it did happen and some of these celebs are still friends till today. Some of these pairings are funny and hard to imagine while some do make sense.
So, below are four mind-blowing sets of celebrities who went to school together.
Meghan Markle And Katharine McPhee Foster
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and the broadway star, Katharine McPhee Foster went to the same high school; Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles.
Foster shared a throwback photo of the two on Instagram. In the photo, the duo posed backstage at a musical they were both in, and Foster captioned it, “Meghan and I did musicals together as kids. She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me.”
In an interview with People, Foster said, “She was actually in my sister’s class, two years older than me. My sister did shows with her, I did two shows with her when I was a seventh-grader or eighth-grader. They were obscure musicals. I think one was called Yankee Doodle. I don’t know if there are videos of her singing, but she’s a really good singer.”
Jonah Hill And Adam Levine
This unlikely pair grew up together in Los Angeles. According to Hill, “Our dads met in the principal’s office in Junior High, we grew up together, we carpooled, we lived in each other’s houses.”
The two had such a strong relationship that Hill even officiated at Levine’s wedding to Behati Prinsloo, which surprised many fans of the two who were not aware of their close relationship.
When asked about Levine’s wedding, Hill said, “I was writing all these things and I realized I have no jokes in the whole thing because I was just trying to be thoughtful and respectful to these people who asked me to do this main honor.
…And then the fu***** sick egomaniac inside of me went, “Well I gotta kill a little bit too, you know? And then Adam went, ‘Yeah you should be funny, be funny, so I chose to add a joke and it went, Adam and I grew up together.
…It’s so nice to see all the people we grew up skateboarding with- like Gene and Robert Downey Jr..”
Gwyneth Paltrow And Kerry Washington
These two actresses first met while they schooled at Spence School in New York and they have remained close friends ever since.
At a Goop event in 2019, they reminisced about their time at school, and Paltrow noted that when she was about to graduate from their school, she held auditions for the Acapella group and Washington participated.
…The most beautiful- first of all, your face has not changed, no aging whatsoever. This beautiful eighth-grader came in so confident. She opened her mouth and the most exquisite voice came out.”
Washington also spoke about their history and said, “Gwyneth was always cool. By junior year, absolutely.”
Busta Rhymes And Jay-Z
These two award-winning rappers attended the George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in Brooklyn along with the late Christopher Wallace, popularly known as Notorious B.I.G.
While reflecting on his life during high school in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jay-Z told the host “Me and Busta Rhymes actually had a rap battle in the lunchroom.”
When asked about this during an appearance on the 85 South Show podcast, Rhymes credited Jay-Z for being one of the first rappers to dive into the art of fast rapping.
The rapper said; “Ultimately he won that battle. At that moment. I was just starting to figure out how to master my fascination with speed rap and he was already on it. He was doing it at an incredible level of skill set, displaying that shit like water spilling all over the place.”
