If there is one celebrity that never fails to understand the assignment when it comes to fashion, it is definitely Zendaya.
All her outfits, from the casual to the red carpet are always beautiful, and just when fans think she can’t outdo herself, she pulls a surprising stunner.
The 22-year-old “Euphoria” star has always pushed the normative ideas of red carpet fashion, creating sleek, glittering, and sculptural masterpieces with her celebrity stylist Law Roach.

Of all her red carpet looks, it is her Met gala outfits that always break the internet. From her first appearance at the Gala in 2015 to her latest in 2019, Zendaya never fails to impress her fans.
She is definitely not afraid to play with prints, patterns, new fashion tech and pull them off in daring styles and cuts. Her wardrobe cuts across several designers, who are carefully curated. She has sifted through designers such as Fausto Puglisi, Vivienne Westwood to Ralph & Russo, and Zuhair Murad as her style has evolved.
Here are four of the best of Zendaya’s Met Gala outfits;
2015 Met Gala Look
The theme of the 2015 Met Gala which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York was “China: Through the Looking Glass,” and Zendaya came dressed to steal the spotlight.
It was her first appearance at the gala and she looked absolutely gorgeous in a custom Fausto Puglisi gown which had a plunging black velvet bodice, a crimson silk asymmetric skirt that had hand-embroidered crystal and velvet sun motifs, and black pumps from Jimmy Choo Anouk.
She also accessorized with black diamond studs from Jack Vartanian, a diamond and pearl ring from Lydia Courteille Swan, a snake diamond ring from Pasquale Bruni, and diamond stackable rings from Casa Reale.
Her tiara headpiece also repeated the sharp sun designs of her skirt. The intricate details and careful styling of her look brought a fresh, youthful aura to the event while delivering a classy look fit for the Chinese theme of the night.
2017 Met Gala Look
There is always a theme for every Met gala but that doesn’t mean everyone has to follow it or ends up following it.
Zendaya did exactly that, straying from the avant-garde theme of “Commes des Garcons: Art of the In-Between” to brighten up the red carpet with a glamorous parrot print off-shoulder Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda ball gown that had floral shades of blue, tangerine, and lemon yellow and turned the heads of press and guests alike.
She complimented her outfit with a beautiful and voluminous afro, a bold tangerine-colored lip, a yellow diamond ring from ForeverMark, and a pair of drop earrings.
Her entire look was simply jaw-dropping with its balance of simplicity and exuberant energy, undoubtedly redefining the red carpet fashion code and establishing her mark as a queen on and off the red carpet.
2018 Met Gala Look
After establishing as red carpet queen, Zendaya took to the 2018 Met gala to solidify that status, and she quite literally did so.
The theme for the evening was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and the actress’s interpretation of this was an outfit inspired by the armor of Saint Joan of Arc, a world-famous catholic icon.
Her custom Versace gown featured sparkling chainmail, a spiked belt with sequins and tiny studs, shoulder pads, and an armored neckpiece.
However, the outfit wasn’t all metal and armor with the addition of shiny sequins and a floor-length, semi-transparent gown underneath that softened up the look.
Zendaya topped up the look with a cropped wig reminiscent of the famous bob of the saint, metallic jewelry from Tiffany & co, and metallic platform heels.
The outfit caught the attention of many fans and celebrities including Tom Holland and inspired remakes such as that of Youtube influencer, Rachel Masky.
2019 Met Gala Look
Zendaya fulfilled every girl’s dream by literally becoming Cinderella at the 2019 Met gala, complete with a fairy godmother.
The actress brought one of the show-stopping moments of the night when she arrived in a custom Tommy Hilfiger Cinderella gown. It featured a blue tulle skirt overlay, puffy sleeves, and a corseted bodice, all reminiscent of the Disney princess. She also had a bag in the shape of Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage, a blue headband, and a black choker.
However, it was not just the beautiful princess dress but the bit of magic it brought to the red carpet when Roach, dressed as the Fairy godmother waved a magic wand that had smoke coming out of it over Zendaya’s dress.
As awe-struck fans, press, and celebrities watched, the dress began to twinkle, puff up and light up from top to bottom, just like magic. And then when Zendaya left the red carpet, she left a single glass slipper behind.
The dress was the ideal assignment for the theme of the gala, “Camp: Notes on Fashion” a perfect sequel to Zendaya’s chain of iconic Met gala looks.
