All The Juice From The Interview

The comedian discussed on the show, details of what he had been through the last 12 months. He explained in detail, his battle with addiction, divorce, and his new blossoming relationship with Munn.

“When I got back from rehab, I moved out from the house,” he started. “I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible who has dealt with the non-coked up Bambi version of me, and that’s been very incredible, and she’s kind of held my hand through that hell.”

He then told Rogen that they were expecting a baby soon, “I’m going to be a dad. We’re really, really happy,” he continued saying; “Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery.”

Mulaney’s Divorce From His Ex-Wife

The Emmy award winner got married to Marie in 2014, after courting for a while. The marriage was tumultuous as they had no kids, coupled with Mulaney’s stint with rehab.

After getting out of rehab, he moved out of the house and began a process of separation from his now ex-wife, by filing for divorce in July 2020. This put an end to his six-year marriage with the actress. Anna Marie said in a statement that she was gutted by his decision to split but wishes him the best.

“I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery,” she stated. Perhaps, she would find some inner peace!

Road To Sobriety

Mulaney has been upfront about his battle with drug addiction, channeling it into jokes while making his comedy comeback at a string of gigs at NYC’s “City Winery.”

During his first gig, he disclosed how his celebrity friends— including Bill Hader, Natasha Lyonne, Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, and his comedy partner Nick Kroll organized an intervention and pleaded with him to go to rehab. He spent the rest of the show mostly processing his intervention and rehab experience and noting he is still working on his sobriety.

With the baby in view, his relationship with Munn, and constant sobriety checks this could be a tough one for him to handle. But we wish the soon-to-be dad all the best in his future endeavors.
