Former President Trump seems to be settling back into his usual way of life after leaving the White House. Since he’s no longer having to attend meetings in the Oval Office or the situation room he can focus more on other passions in his life. Certainly, boxing has been one of the things that Donald Trump has been associated with for years. Way before he ever threw his hat in the political ring Donald Trump was instrumental in bringing big boxing matches to his hotels in Atlantic City. Now it seems fitting that he’s using boxing to get back into public life.
How Is This Going to Play Out?
The Triller Fight Club promotion company is putting on a “legends” boxing event. That is set to feature past boxing champions like Evander Holyfield on their card. The event is going to be held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are signed on to provide commentary to the main event fight. That is going to be between Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort. The event is also in some way meant to honor the lives lost on 9/11. Potentially some of the proceedings from the event will find their way to different charities.
We Just Missed An Oscar De La Hoya Confrontation
Evander Holyfield is actually stepping in a bit last minute into the event. Originally the main event fight was going to feature The Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya. Oscar ultimately ended up having to pull out of the fight. He’s currently still battling COVID-19. As we reported the situation got so bad that he ended up in the hospital. It’s a bit of shame in many respects. Not only are we not going to get to see Oscar back in the ring. We would’ve potentially seen a confrontation between him and Trump. Oscar was overly critical of the Trump presidency. To the point where he mentioned he was considering a run for the White House.
What To Expect From The Trumps In The Broadcasting Booth
The inclusion of Donald Trump Sr. and Jr. in the broadcasting booth is without a doubt a total gimmick to sell the event on pay per view. By the way, the price for the event is starting at 49.99! That being said, as we’ve mentioned former President Trump is no stranger to the fight game. He worked very closely with promoters back in the day to get fights to his casinos. Trump talked about his excitement for the event taking place this weekend in a recent interview saying,
“I love great fighters and great fights, I look forward to seeing both this Saturday night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won’t want to miss this special event.”
Big UFC Presence In The Event
One of the most recent outings by former President Trump after leaving the White House was to a UFC event. UFC president Dana White has been a vocal Trump supporter over the years. He was potentially the link this time around between the promotion company and the Trumps. Although this is technically a boxing exhibition there’ll be a big UFC presence at the event. One of the headliners Vitor Belfort is a former UFC champion. The undercard also features two former UFC greats, Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz. Officially the Trumps are only going to be calling the main event fight. However, this matchup could potentially turn out to be more interesting!
