“We just got a letter, we just got a letter, we just got a letter… I wonder who it’s from?!?”
If you happened to find yourself singing that out loud, then you’re an OG “Blue’s Clues” fan and most likely a millennial in your late 20’s/ early 30’s.
In honor of the Nickelodeon show’s 25th anniversary, Steve Burns reprised his role as the beloved “Blue’s Clues” host, and shared a heartwarming message with his adult-aged fans.
The 47-year-old issued a video message on Nick Jr.’s official Twitter account. They captioned the video, “So about that time Steve went off to college…”
Burns started off saying, “You remember how when we were younger, we used to run around and hang out with Blue and find clues and talk to Mr. Salt and freak out about the mail and do all the fun stuff?”
“And then one day, I was like, ‘Oh hey, guess what? Big news, I’m leaving. Here’s my brother Joe, he’s your new best friend,’ and then I got on a bus and I left and we didn’t see each other for like a really long time? Can we just talk about that? Because I realize that was kind of abrupt,” he continued. “I just kinda got up and went to college. And that was really challenging, by the way, but great because I got to use my mind and take a step at a time and now I literally am doing many of the things that I wanted to do.”
At the time of his abrupt departure, there were many rumors swirling as to why the show host left.

The rumors involved Burns dying of a drug overdose, was a drug addict, or was killed in a car crash.
Pretty harsh rumors if you ask us, and luckily these rumors were not true.
Burns revealed that one of the main reasons he left the show was because he was going bald, and he didn’t want that to happen on national television in front of his young fans.
His video message continued, “And then look at you, and look at all you have done, and all you have accomplished in all that time. And it’s just, it’s just so amazing, right? I mean, we started out with clues, and now, it’s what? Student loans, and jobs and families? And some of it has been kind of hard, you know? I know you know.”
He rounded out his message with a big ‘Thank You’ to his devoted fans.
“I wanted to tell you that I really couldn’t have done all of that without your help. And in fact, all the help that you helped me with when we were younger is still helping me today, right now. And that’s super cool. I guess I just wanted to say that after all these years, I never forgot you. Ever. And I’m super glad we’re still friends,” he said.
Since the video was posted on Tuesday, September 7, its garnered over 1.3 million likes, 571.6 thousand retweets and 21.6 thousand comments.
