Britney Spears is getting closer and closer to being freed from her father’s grasp.
Jamie Spears has petitioned to END her 13-year-long conservatorship. As many fans know, Britney was placed under a conservatorship back in 2008 after she had a very public breakdown.
This past June, the “Slave 4 U” singer delivered an explosive statement to a Los Angeles County judge.
Britney revealed that over the course of 13-years, her conservatorship has restricted her from getting married, having children and has subjected her to ‘abuse.’
Last month The Blast reported that her father agreed to step down as conservator of her estate; however, there was no set date for his departure.
He’s Ending The Conservatorship!

He did remind the world he loves Britney ‘unconditionally.’
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Jamie agreed to step aside in her ongoing conservatorship case but wants to make sure the transition is done in an orderly way. Of course, Mr. Spears isn’t going down without a bit of a fight and is pointing out that there are “no actual grounds” for removing him as conservator.
As of Tuesday, September 7, Jamie filed a petition to end the arrangement.
The court filing reads, “Recent events related to this conservatorship have called into question whether circumstances have changed to such an extent that grounds for the establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist.”
“Ms. Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship. She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care, deciding when, where, and how often to get therapy. She wants to control the money she has made from her career and spend it without supervision or oversight. She wants to be able to get married and have a baby if she so chooses. In short, she wants to live her life as she chooses without the constraints of a conservator or court proceeding,” the petition states in parts.
The filing continued, “As Mr. Spears has said, again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
Yeah, OKAY?!?
As of the reporting of this news, Britney has not spoken out on the petition. She typically does so through social media, but she has not posted anything on her Instagram timeline in five days.
The Blast will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available.
